Our Mission and Values

Tydstroom Poultry's farming operations are situated in the Swartland region of the Western Cape, Tarlton in Gauteng and Rustenburg in the North West. Nova Feeds supplies quality feed for our chickens on all our rearing, laying and broiler farms.

Feed formulations are developed by highly qualified technicians to ensure that the diet of our chickens contributes to their well-being.

Through effective management processes, Tydstroom chickens are nurtured and well cared for. Strict bio-security measurements are in place to ensure that our chickens are not exposed to diseases and contamination from the outside.

Tydstroom Farms

Tydstroom Chicks in broilers

Rearing

Our rearing operation consists of the following:

    • Grandparent operation at Bulhoek near Rustenburg
    • Breeder, rearing and laying farms situated in the Western Cape

At both Grandparent and Rearing operations bio-security is of the utmost importance to ensure a continuous supply throughout the whole value chain. Flock health and sufficient production are important to ensure enough eggs are produced for the broiler operations.

Tydstroom Chickens in Hatcheries

Hatcheries

Tydstroom has two world-class hatcheries in the Western Cape, situated outside of Atlantis and Riebeek-Kasteel. The purpose of these hatcheries is to incubate eggs that are then transferred to the broiler farms when the chicks are one day old.

Tydstroom Broilers

Broilers

All Tydstroom broiler farms are situated within a 50 km radius of the three processing facilities, to ensure swift transport from the farms to the factories. All broiler farms are managed by farm managers who have years of experience and a wealth of knowledge, thereby ensuring that all broilers have sufficient access to feed and water.

Currently the operation consists of 24 broiler farms of which 6 are company-owned and the rest are outsourced to contract growers. An average chicken house houses around 40 000 broilers. Strict bio-security policies are in place to ensure minimal access to broiler farms for the safety and well-being of the birds.
