Our Mission and Values

Tydstroom Poultry Farm was established outside Durbanville in the Western Cape during the 1960's by Herman Till and was originally a turkey farm. Later it was transformed into a broiler operation.

Tydstroom was incorporated into Bokomo during 1995 and in 1997 Bokomo and Sasko merged to form Pioneer Foods. Tydstroom acquired the Golden Grove Farm and processing facilities close to Atlantis in 1999.

In the early days, Tydstroom used to slaughter 90 000 chickens per week. In February 2011, Tydstroom acquired Tonko Chickens in Gauteng, which consists of an abattoir in Hartebeespoort and processing facility in Edenvale. Tydstroom slaughters over 1 million chickens a week and employs over 1 300 permanent employees.

Today Tydstroom is a dominant player in the retail, food services and wholesale markets in South Africa.
